Authorities confirmed that both victims were women, found buried beneath heavy debris at the collapsed dump site.

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak said the latest retrieval highlighted the dangers faced by rescue teams working in the unstable area.

“One victim was under a beam while one under a sorting machine. It is so risky for the rescuers,” said Tumulak in Cebuano.

Rescue operations have been further complicated by persistent rainfall, which has been soaking the area since Saturday afternoon.

According to Tumulak, the weather has not deterred responders from continuing their work despite the physical toll.

“The rescue teams are all wet but they still continue. We cannot stop, the families are waiting,” added Tumulak.

As of the latest update, 31 individuals are still unaccounted for, while 12 have been rescued and transferred to hospitals for medical attention.

The landfill operator has assigned a safety officer to monitor the trash mound and ensure there is no further movement that could endanger workers.

However, relatives of the missing have begun expressing frustration over what they describe as slow progress.

“We are so tired. We have no sleep,” one family member said.

Rescuers have shifted tactics by using acetylene to cut through metal beams buried under the debris.

The approach is being done carefully due to the presence of methane and carbon gases emitted by the garbage.

“With one wrong move, our rescuer might also be trapped under the rubble,” Tumulak also said.

Authorities confirmed that the operation is now focused on search, rescue, and retrieval as conditions at the site remain highly dangerous.

In an earlier KAMI report, a family of three was brutally murdered inside their own store in Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. CCTV footage showed three men entering the shop, pulling down the roll-up door, and fatally shooting all three victims. Before escaping, one of the suspects was seen taking a bag and a mobile phone from the scene. A separate report by Gary De Leon on TV5’s Frontline Pilipinas revealed that the family had allegedly been receiving threats after lending ₱1 million to a fellow barangay resident, who reportedly intended to use the money for a business venture.

Meanwhile, another local incident that went viral involved a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City who was stabbed several times by her own husband. Based on a report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita, the 38-year-old suspect carried out the attack inside the school’s faculty room. Authorities said the school had a security guard, but because the suspect was a familiar figure, he was able to enter and leave the premises without difficulty. The suspect claimed he went to the school to speak with his wife and resolve their issues, but their conversation allegedly escalated into a heated argument that ended in violence.
