Nurse dies after falling from motorcycle and ran over by modern jeepney

A 35-year-old nurse died Wednesday morning after a tragic road accident along A. Bonifacio Avenue near the corner of Kabo Pio Street in Barangay Barangka, Marikina City.

The incident occurred on December 17, 2025, while the victim was riding her motorcycle on the busy roadway.
According to the Marikina City Police Station, both the motorcycle and the modern jeepney were traveling in the same direction along A. Bonifacio Avenue.
Investigators said the jeepney was occupying the outer lane, while the motorcycle was positioned to its right.

Police stated that the rider suddenly lost her balance, causing her to fall toward the left side of the road.
As she hit the pavement, she was ran over by the rear wheel of the modern jeepney.
The impact resulted in severe injuries that proved fatal.
Barangay Barangka officials responded shortly after the incident.
“Hindi naman gusto rin ng driver ‘yun, nang nakadaleng ‘yun. Pagdating naka-handusay ‘yung babae syempre bumagsak, biglang may dumating na sasakyan. Lagi naman kaming may tanod doon. Inaalalayan din ‘yung mga tumatawid, mga estudyante. Kaya pag may aksidente roon, bato agad sa barangay,” says Shirley De Guzman, desk officer of Barangay Barangka.
Emergency responders from Marikina Rescue 161 immediately transported the victim to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save her life.
Despite their efforts, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The 45-year-old driver of the modern jeepney is currently under the custody of the Marikina City Police.
Authorities said he may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in h*micide and damage to property. As of reporting, the driver has not issued any public statement regarding the incident.
In other developments, Quezon City police arrested a 20-year-old homeless woman in connection with the December 10 abduction of 19-month-old Kiana Jane. While the suspect is now detained, the toddler has yet to be located, leaving her parents distraught as authorities continue search operations in various parts of Novaliches. Investigators said the suspect befriended the child’s parents outside a shop and offered to buy them food before taking the baby, allegedly to run an errand, and never returning. The child’s father, Melvin Lorejas, has made an emotional appeal to the public, urging anyone with information or sightings of his daughter to immediately coordinate with police or contact their family.
Meanwhile, a workplace accident in Barangay Sipac-Almacen, Navotas, left a 28-year-old female employee seriously injured after her left arm was accidentally caught in an industrial dough-rolling machine. She remained trapped for nearly an hour as residents attempted to dismantle the equipment using improvised tools. Responding firefighters from the Navotas Fire Station later used hydraulic extrication equipment, freeing the victim’s arm in about five minutes. The woman lost consciousness following the rescue and was rushed to a hospital. Her family said she is now experiencing severe psychological distress in addition to swelling and other physical injuries.
