Search operations continue in Sto. Domingo, Albay after a 14-year-old boy was swept away by strong river currents in Barangay Salvacion on Sunday morning.

Authorities said the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. while the teenager and two companions were gathering coconuts near the riverbank. The rising waters suddenly surged and carried him downstream before anyone could react.

Local responders quickly mobilized as soon as the report was made. According to APSEMO chief Roderick Mendoza, teams from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, and community volunteers have already scoured nearly two kilometers of the river.

Mendoza said they have not yet found any trace of the missing boy. Rescuers fear the teenager may have already been swept out to sea due to the force of the current.

PNP Bicol Regional Director PBGen. Irosito N. Miranda has ordered the deployment of additional rubber boats to strengthen the ongoing search.

Authorities said they will continue operations despite the difficult weather conditions.

Meanwhile, in the adjacent Barangay Buhatan, a massive landslide buried three homes. Resident Corazon Belen recalled the terrifying moment the ground gave way.

She said she survived by hiding next to a gas tank beside her kitchen. Another resident, Charryl Balmas, sustained injuries but managed to escape just before her house was crushed.

Local officials have provided aid to the displaced families and temporarily relocated them to safer areas.

The challenges did not end there, as neighboring Barangay Alimsog experienced waist-deep flooding that forced residents to move belongings and seek higher ground.

For three consecutive days, heavy rainfall brought by the shear line has battered Albay, triggering multiple emergencies and prompting calls for heightened vigilance as unstable weather persists.

She is currently detained in Batangas City and will face charges for estafa, along with several violations under the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
