According to authorities, the victim was riding with another teenager when officers first noticed them on the road.
Police Capt. Joseph Calderon, chief of the Bacarra police, said his team spotted the minors without helmets and visibility vests.
He explained that officers signaled the pair to stop for questioning. Calderon said the teenagers sped off instead.

Law enforcers later found them sprawled near an acacia tree along a curved portion of the roadway.
The crash proved fatal for the young driver, who died at the scene.
Her passenger, meanwhile, sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Investigators learned that the two were reportedly on their way to submit a school project when the patrol team noticed them.
Calderon explained that the decision to chase the minors was based on their sudden attempt to flee.
He said their action raised concerns that they might be hiding something. In a separate statement, he expressed sympathy for the grieving family but stressed that officers were acting within their responsibilities.
Calderon says they did not want any harm to come to the victim.
He also used the incident as a reminder to parents. Calderon urged families not to allow their children to operate any vehicle, especially late at night.
He said such precautions can help prevent tragic accidents like the one that claimed the life of the 15-year-old girl.
Authorities continue to review the circumstances of the chase while the community mourns the young victim’s passing.
In Davao City, a 74-year-old man lost his life after being stabbed by his own grandson. Relatives said the suspect had previously displayed threatening behavior toward the victim. They also shared that the 27-year-old had been confined to a mental health facility several times before the incident. The family has decided not to pursue criminal charges and instead hopes to have him committed to psychiatric care. The elderly man’s death has left neighbors and the wider community stunned and grieving.
In a separate incident, an 18-year-old student died after unauthorized CCTV footage—allegedly showing her taking ice cream without paying—was circulated among local youths. Her family said the widespread sharing of the video caused overwhelming anxiety, shame, and fear. Authorities have since filed complaints against the store owner and the study room supervisor for possible violations of privacy laws. The tragic event has ignited nationwide conversations on digital cruelty and the moral responsibility people carry when sharing sensitive content involving minors.
