The incident occurred near the Filinvest exit in Barangay Ayala-Alabang, Muntinlupa City. According to initial reports from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), an MMDA traffic enforcer intercepted a male van driver suspected of operating a colorum (unfranchised public utility vehicle) unit.

The situation quickly escalated when the van driver allegedly drew a firearm. The MMDA enforcer, whose name has been withheld pending official investigation, engaged the driver in a physical struggle.

During the ensuing scuffle, shots were fired, resulting in both the enforcer and the driver sustaining gunshot wounds to the leg.

Both injured individuals were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that both men are in stable condition and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The violence underscores the significant risks faced by government personnel tasked with enforcing traffic and transport regulations, especially when dealing with drivers who operate outside the law.
