A dismissed member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) found himself back in police custody after he was caught stealing a motorcycle in DECA Homes Subdivision, Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City early morning of November 19.

Police Captain Andy Ofalia, commander of Bacolod Police Station 9, identified the suspect as 46-year-old Wenefredo Casuyon Jr., a resident of Glendale Homes Subdivision in Brgy. Granada.

Casuyon was formerly a PO1 who entered the PNP in 2010 but was later dismissed due to a physical injury case and involvement in the theft of motorcycle parts.

According to Ofalia, their station received a report around 12:40 a.m. regarding a carnapping incident within the subdivision.

The motorcycle owner, 19-year-old Jofranz Mier Anduyan, was startled when his Suzuki Raider FU—painted red and white—suddenly started on its own.

Confused and alarmed, he immediately sought assistance from the subdivision guard.

Thanks to the quick response of the security personnel, Casuyon was intercepted before he could exit the area.

Authorities later discovered that he had cut the ignition wiring, enabling him to start the motorcycle despite not having the key.

Casuyon is now detained at Bacolod Police Station 9 and is set to face formal charges for carnapping.

The incident has sparked renewed concern among residents, as it involved someone who once wore the police uniform—highlighting the need for vigilance even within gated communities.
