CCTV footage showed the suspect walking along Bukang Liwayway Street with the weapon on Friday night. Barangay officers later rushed toward Narra Extension, where the suspect first went.

According to the barangay, he had already hit the victim, who was only visiting the area, though this part was not caught on camera.

Before the attack, the suspect reportedly returned to the victim twice and threatened him. He went home for a moment and later stepped out carrying the bolo.

He then went straight to the victim. Kagawad Francis Dela Peña said the blade hit the side of the victim’s left eye because the swing landed in a different angle.

The victim used a stool and even smashed a bottle to protect himself and keep the suspect from getting close.

Despite this, he still suffered four wounds on his left arm. He was rushed to the hospital and was able to go home soon after.

The suspect, meanwhile, returned to his house, but when police arrived, he no longer responded, and the gate was locked.

Another barangay reported that before the incident, the suspect’s wife complained that he beat her while drunk. They advised her to stay with her sibling for safety.

Officials later learned that the suspect and victim were godfathers to each other’s children. The wife said the suspect often looked for the victim out of jealousy.

Police continue their follow-up operation as the suspect faces a frustrated murder complaint.
