A tragic accident occurred in Quezon City early Wednesday when a wing van rammed into a traffic light post, leaving one dead and another injured.
The incident happened at the intersection of Mindanao Avenue and Congressional Avenue, according to a report from GMA News’ Unang Balita.
Police said the driver told them they were about to turn left onto Congressional Avenue when the brakes failed.
The van then hit a car and a taxi before crashing into the traffic light post.

Authorities confirmed that the van’s helper died at the scene due to the strong impact, while the driver suffered injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators are still checking the vehicle’s mechanical condition and other possible causes of the crash.
They are also reviewing CCTV footage in the area to determine the sequence of events and verify the driver’s statement.
The authorities reminded motorists to always inspect their vehicles before driving, especially heavy trucks and vans, to avoid similar accidents.
The traffic light post and nearby road signs were also damaged due to the impact, temporarily affecting traffic flow in the area.
The investigation remains ongoing to find out whether negligence or mechanical failure caused the deadly crash.
