Court issues arrest warrant for two suspects in slay of Slovak tourist in Boracay

Authorities have arrested two suspects accused of raping and killing a Slovak national who was vacationing in Boracay in March 2025.

According to a report from "GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas," the suspects were identified as Rajel Lacorte, 29, of Barangay Balabag, and Ronald Saron, 38, of Barangay Yapak, both on Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.
Separate operations were carried out on October 20 to apprehend the two men.
Lacorte was arrested in Barangay Nalook, Kalibo, while Saron was captured in Barangay Yapak. Police said the arrests were made possible through sustained surveillance efforts.

“Meron pong inilabas na warrant of arrest ang Regional Trial Court Branch 9 ng Kalibo, Aklan. Noong October 20, successfully na na-arrest ang dalawang suspects,” said Police Captain Aubrey Ayon, spokesperson of the Aklan Police Provincial Office.
Reports stated that the Slovak tourist went missing on March 10, 2025. Two days later, her lifeless body was discovered inside an abandoned chapel on the island, sparking outrage among locals and tourists.
Authorities emphasized that the successful serving of the arrest warrants marks a significant step in pursuing justice for the victim.
Both suspects are now under police custody while facing charges of rape with homicide.
Investigators continue to coordinate with the Slovak embassy as the legal proceedings move forward in the Regional Trial Court of Kalibo, Aklan.

DPWH confirmed that no documents related to flood control anomaly investigations were affected. The fire reportedly started from a computer explosion inside the Bureau of Research and Standards. No employees were injured, and officials are assessing the extent of the damage.
