Families left homeless after the powerful earthquake in Cebu continue to endure heartbreaking conditions as they struggle to survive amid rain and fears of aftershocks.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Cebu, which was also aired on Balitanghali on Friday, one family in San Remigio was forced to sleep in a pigpen to avoid getting drenched by the rain.
The family reportedly stayed there out of desperation, fearing aftershocks while having no other place to go.
In Medellin, another town heavily struck by the quake, residents wrapped themselves in large plastic bags to shield against the downpour, highlighting the dire lack of shelter.

With homes reduced to rubble, they had no choice but to improvise temporary protection from the elements.
Aside from shelter, quake-hit families are also in urgent need of food and clean drinking water, adding to the pressing humanitarian concerns in the affected areas.
Local government units from the hardest-hit towns have yet to issue official statements, as efforts are underway to assess damage and provide relief.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who visited the epicenter of the earthquake in Bogo City, acknowledged the severe plight of the victims.
He explained that evacuees cannot yet be accommodated in evacuation centers, as authorities are still verifying whether these facilities are structurally safe for use.
The devastating earthquake has left many families clinging to makeshift survival methods, underscoring the urgent call for swift relief and rehabilitation efforts to restore a sense of normalcy in their lives.
