Karen Davila, an award-winning journalist, has reacted to the alleged ₱35-billion insertion linked to Ako Bicol party list representative Zaldy Co. Taking to her account on X, Davila did not hold back her frustration and anger over the explosive claims that surfaced in recent senate hearings.

Reposting a photo card from @fttmph, Davila lashed out at the issue with a fiery remark: "Mapapamura ka talaga sa galit. Huwag po nating kalimutan ito. Ginawang GATASAN ang gobyerno. Kay Zaldy Co palang umano ito. Isipin niyo ang iba pang congressman na may insertions, cut ng DPWH at mga kontratista," she had written, echoing the sentiments of others.

The veteran journalist went on to emphasize how deeply this kind of corruption affects the country. "During the senate hearings, estimates are the national budget can do with P1 trillion less. Napupunta lang ito sa kickback, insertions, lagay sa substandard or ghost projects," she said.

Following the first reaction, Davila once again took to X to repost another photo card, this time from News 5, where she elaborated on the scale of the alleged corruption. She described it as a blatant act of plunder and economic sabotage. "If DPWH Alcantara's testimony is to be believed, Zaldy Co was able to insert funds in every step of the budget process — not for economic growth but to line his pockets. He used his very position as Appropriations Committee Chair to STEAL. He did it through the system. He was able to do it 'legally' and with ease," she stressed online.

She made it clear that this issue is only about one individual and one province, yet the consequences are already staggering, "Si Zaldy Co palang ito at sa Bulacan palang, isipin natin — ibang congressman pa at pondo para sa buong bansa! Hindi billion billion ang nalulustay, TRILLION kada taon. Nasa budget lang para pondohan ang mga luho nila at kanilang pamilya!"
