A 38-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in a harrowing multi-vehicle accident on a national highway in Calasiao, Pangasinan.

The victim’s motorcycle collided with a jeepney before he was tragically run over by an oncoming dump truck.

The incident, which took place on Thursday morning, serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of overtaking on busy roads.

According to Police Major Rodrigo Lubiano, Deputy Chief of the Calasiao Police Station, the incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m. in Barangay Bued.

CCTV footage of the crash showed the victim attempting to overtake a passenger jeepney that had slowed down. Two other motorcycles had successfully passed the jeepney just before the victim.

Unfortunately, the victim’s motorcycle struck the rear of the jeepney, causing him to lose his balance and fall.

At that precise moment, a dump truck was approaching from behind. The rider fell directly into the truck’s path and was run over, resulting in his immediate death. The body of the rider was taken to a local funeral home.

The drivers of the jeepney and the dump truck were questioned by authorities. While the truck's driver has not yet made a full statement, his companion reportedly expressed regret over the unfortunate event.

The driver of the jeepney has also been summoned by police to provide his account. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and the liabilities of all parties involved.
