According to a report from GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, the victim's hands were secured with duct tape, and a piece of cloth was wrapped around his face.
A chilling note was also found placed near his feet, bearing the message, “Huwag tularan” (Do not imitate).
Such notes have become a common, chilling signature in vigilante-style killings, often associated with the illegal drug trade.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Maila Maramag, the chief of the Talisay City Police Office, confirmed that the victim has been tentatively identified, though his name is being withheld pending proper notification of his family.
Maramag stated that the victim is believed to be in his early 30s. Forensic investigators found several empty shell casings at the scene, indicating that the victim was likely killed at the location where his body was found.
The police are currently looking into all possible angles but are primarily focusing on the victim's possible involvement in illegal drug activities.
The nature of the crime—the public display of the body and the threatening note—is consistent with methods used by drug syndicates to send a warning to others.
This method of killing is also meant to intimidate those who might consider cooperating with law enforcement.
The Talisay City Police are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward. They are also reviewing local CCTV footage and speaking with residents in the area to gather more details that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
The incident has caused alarm among residents, many of whom are concerned about the growing number of violent crimes in the community.
The discovery serves as a grim reminder of the challenges authorities face in maintaining peace and order.
While the investigation is in its early stages, police are determined to bring those responsible to justice. They continue to call for public cooperation to help solve the case and prevent similar incidents in the future.
