“Siya ay naka-face mask, naka-sumbrero, at naka-salamin na hindi tipikal sa paningin ng ating mga kababayan kapag sila ay nagbebenta o nagla-live selling,” said Police Lieutenant Nadame Malang, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).
The suspect was tracked down in Lubao, Pampanga, where police successfully arrested him. Investigators revealed he was charged with estafa linked to fraudulent transactions involving anime figurines worth ₱800,000 to ₱900,000.
“Nangako po siya na babayaran ako through post dated checks, so nag-isyu po siya ng anim na post dated checks sa akin. Unfortunately po, lahat po ‘yun tumalbog,” said one of his victims, who is currently based abroad. The victim added that around 40 more people had also been duped.
The suspect, however, claimed he had already spoken with the complainant.
“Nakausap ko na rin po yung complainant at okay naman na po… aasikasuhin namin ang lahat, matatapos lahat ito, at maayos lahat,” he said.
Still, the victim maintained, “I’m open to negotiations pero kung wala, dapat magdusa ka sa mga ginawa mong kasalanan…”
The PNP-HPG urged other victims to come forward to support additional cases against the suspect.
