Lawmakers denied alleged involvement in flood control projects mess following Discaya's statement

• Several lawmakers denied the claims of Curlee and Sara Discaya linking them to alleged corruption in flood control projects
• Rep. Roman Romulo and Rep. Marcelino Teodoro both rejected the accusations, saying they had no involvement in DPWH
• Romblon Rep. Eleandro Madrona strongly denied asking for kickbacks and vowed to resign if ghost projects were proven
• Bulacan Mayor Florida Robes said she would file a libel case against the Discayas for dragging her into the issue

Several lawmakers on Monday dismissed the allegations made by contractors Curlee and Sara Discaya.

The couple earlier claimed that corrupt officials forced them to take part in rigged bidding and pay money to secure flood control projects.

Rep. Roman Romulo said the accusation was not true, explaining that he was only chairing a committee meeting.

Rep. Marcelino Teodoro also denied the claim, pointing out that he was not even a congressman during that time and had no connection with DPWH.

Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus “Budoy” Madrona also denied receiving kickbacks from any flood control projects.

He said he never made demands on the contractors. He added that the projects in Romblon went through proper bidding and that he did not use influence over them.

Madrona also said on DZMM Teleradyo that he would resign if it was proven that no bidding took place or if ghost projects existed in Romblon.

Meanwhile, Romblon Governor Trina Firmalo-Fabic created a task force to investigate around 80 flood control projects worth P5.8 billion, implemented from 2022 to 2025.

Former lawmaker and now Bulacan Mayor Florida Robes said she would file a libel case against the Discayas for linking her to the controversy.

She said San Jose del Monte has world-class infrastructure and no ghost projects. She also warned those using her name to stop.

In a previous report by KAMI, contractor Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II, husband of Sarah Discaya, released a list of several congressmen and DPWH officials who allegedly asked for money in exchange for projects. He said their company had no choice because if they did not comply, the contract would be delayed or canceled. According to Discaya, the officials allegedly demanded 10% to 25% of the project’s value. He also named several DPWH officials who were allegedly involved in the flood control project anomaly.

Additionally, Korina Sanchez-Roxas recently posted on her Instagram account. There, she posed in front of a beautiful palace while she was in Disneyland. However, she also made fun of it in relation to the recent issue involving her. She wrote in the first part of her post, "My P10 Million Palace," which was somehow related to the allegations thrown against her by Mayor Vico Sotto.
