Investigations revealed that the incident stemmed from the town fiesta in August 2024, when the victim joined dance lessons facilitated by the accused.

The suspect allegedly lured the woman to his residence, where he raped her.

The traumatic experience remained unreported for several months until February 2025, when the victim finally confided in her mother. This disclosure led to the filing of formal charges against the suspect.

Navarro added that the arrested man is currently under the custody of the Opol Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Police authorities assured that the case will be pursued to ensure justice for the victim, stressing the importance of reporting such incidents despite fear or stigma.

The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Northern Mindanao to track down wanted individuals, especially those facing serious charges such as sexual assault.
