Husband arrested for killing wife out of jealousy in Negros Oriental

A woman was killed after being repeatedly stabbed by her own husband in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental, reportedly out of jealousy. The victim left behind their two young children.

According to a report from GMA Regional TV on Balitanghali Thursday, police said the suspect confronted his wife out of suspicion about where she had gone, which escalated into a heated argument.

The husband admitted that he lost control during the altercation. He went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and repeatedly stabbed his wife.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities confirmed that the couple’s children, aged seven and four, have now been orphaned by their mother’s tragic death.

Following the crime, the suspect’s father advised him to surrender. He later turned himself in to his uncle, a barangay tanod, without resisting arrest.

Police have not released further details about the suspect’s statement, but reports said he has chosen not to issue any comment. He is now facing a complaint for parricide.

The incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns over domestic violence cases driven by jealousy and mistrust.

Authorities reminded the public that help and intervention are available to couples facing relationship challenges, in order to prevent similar tragedies.
