A Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) driver was injured after being stabbed and pistol-whipped by two men who had booked a ride with him to Pampanga.

The victim managed to survive by deliberately crashing his vehicle near a populated area to draw attention.

According to a report by CJ Torrida on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Wednesday, the incident happened in Barangay Consuelo, Macabebe, Pampanga early Tuesday morning.

Police investigation revealed that the 29-year-old driver picked up the suspects in Taytay, Rizal after they booked a ride bound for Pampanga.

Before reaching their supposed destination, the suspects directed the driver to different routes until they arrived in Barangay Consuelo. It was there that the driver was stabbed, threatened, and struck with a gun.

“Nung may nakita siyang mga tao, isinadsad niya sa may gilid kaya nakuha niya yung atensiyon [ng mga tao] at doon nagkagulo na,” said Police Major Reginal Turla, chief of Macabebe Police Station.

Residents and barangay officials, who initially thought it was a road accident, immediately rushed to help.

Barangay councilor Jay Guevarra said they saw blood inside the vehicle, while the suspects tried to flee and hide in nearby grass.

The victim was brought to the hospital, while residents and barangay officials chased and captured the two suspects.

Recovered from them were a replica gun, a grenade, a cellphone, and a sling bag containing various IDs.

The suspects are now under police custody and will face appropriate charges, while the victim continues to recover in the hospital.
