Her alleged assailant, an 18-year-old former Grade 10 student, succumbed to his self-inflicted gunshot wound a day after the tragic event.

The incident sent shockwaves through the local community and reignited a national conversation on school safety and youth violence.

According to a police report, the shooting occurred around 10:45 a.m. inside the victim’s classroom.

The suspect, identified by authorities with the alias "Leo," reportedly entered the school campus and the classroom where the victim was without provocation.

Witnesses stated that the suspect drew a .22-caliber firearm and shot the girl in the neck before using the same weapon on himself.

Both teenagers were rushed to a nearby hospital, but their wounds proved fatal.

Initial police investigations suggest that the motive behind the attack was a "crime of passion," possibly stemming from a relationship dispute between the former couple.

The Department of Education (DepEd) has swiftly condemned the heinous act, emphasizing that educational institutions should be safe havens for students and staff.
