A 41-year-old man was killed after being stabbed by his stepbrother inside a computer shop in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, August 10.

Police Lt. Col. Nazer Canja, chief of the San Carlos City Police Station, identified the victim only as Ian, while the 27-year-old suspect was named as Lex.

According to initial investigation, Ian was using a computer when Lex suddenly attacked him, stabbing him in the chest and left arm.

Bystanders rushed Ian to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival due to the severity of his injuries.

Authorities said Lex fled the scene after the attack but was later arrested at his residence.

Police also recovered the alleged murder weapon from a canal, which was believed to have been discarded by the suspect while escaping.

Canja revealed that the stabbing incident stemmed from an old grudge. Lex was reportedly angered by Ian’s past behavior, which had allegedly caused embarrassment to their father.

The tension between the two had been simmering and apparently reached its breaking point during the encounter at the computer shop.

The victim’s child has expressed a firm intention to file murder charges against Lex, seeking justice for Ian’s death. Police are now preparing the necessary documents for the filing of the case.

The tragic incident has shocked the local community, with residents expressing concern over how a long-standing family dispute could escalate into deadly violence. Authorities are urging families to resolve conflicts peacefully to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
