While police initially suspected a vehicular mishap, the fact that the victim's motorcycle was missing has prompted authorities to keep all possibilities open.
The deceased has been identified as Clyde Abaa, a 19-year-old second-year aeronautics student from Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City.
According to his uncle, Rodolfo Lasquete, Abaa was last seen on Saturday evening.
He had reportedly been with his cousin in Murcia and borrowed the cousin's motorcycle to meet a friend before he vanished.
He was found lifeless hours later by a passerby who immediately reported the discovery to the police.
Responding to the scene around 5:30 a.m., Murcia police officers, led by OIC–Chief of Police PCPT. Honey Labaro, found Abaa with multiple injuries, including a broken arm and severe wounds to his head and legs.
The site contained what appeared to be evidence of a crash, such as a damaged helmet and other motorcycle debris.
This initially led investigators to theorize that the young man was involved in a fatal accident.
However, a crucial piece of evidence is missing: the motorcycle itself.
Police are now considering other angles, including a possible hit-and-run, foul play, or robbery, since the motorcycle could have been taken from the scene.
Abaa was reportedly a promising student with his whole future ahead of him, and his family is now grappling with the tragic loss.
Police Captain Labaro reminded motorists to exercise extreme caution when driving, especially at night or in dimly lit areas, to prevent similar accidents.
However, the mystery surrounding the missing vehicle continues to be the focus of the investigation.
The authorities are calling on anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as they continue their efforts to determine the exact circumstances of Abaa's death and bring closure to his grieving family.
