Humane Philippines has condemned the brutal act committed against a puppy that was found skinned alive and left to die near a vacant lot in Barangay Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal.

The disturbing incident, captured in a viral video, drew widespread outrage from the public, including celebrities Carla Abellana and John Arcilla.

“Yung kalagayan po ng puppy doon sa video, dying na po siya talaga. Unfortunately nung nakausap ko yung nag-post, wala na, patay na po siya eh,” said Yza Lim, President of Humane Philippines.

Lim described the horrific injuries sustained by the puppy: “Yung likod mismo niya, binalatan nang ganun, from one side to the other side. Meron pa pong hindi lang kita masyado sa video, yung mga paa po niya, durog.”
She also thanked the concerned netizen who shared the footage: “I'm very thankful po dun sa nag-post, hindi naman po talaga naming malalaman if not for her. Wala pong tumulong sa kanya na ibang residente doon.”

Following the video’s circulation, Humane Philippines has sought assistance from the Philippine National Police (PNP) to track down the individual or individuals responsible for the gruesome act.

The case has triggered emotional reactions from the public. Actor John Arcilla reacted with a crying emoji to the video post shared by The Philippine Star, while actress and animal welfare advocate Carla Abellana expressed outrage, commenting, “Kulong ka ngayon.”

Investigation into the case is ongoing as animal welfare groups continue to call for justice.

One of the victims sustained a severed hand and another suffered a jaw injury, while two others had minor injuries. The Manila Police District's Explosive Ordnance Division and Scene of the Crime Operatives are investigating the incident and have ruled out a bomb as the cause.
