PAF Commander Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura explained that the snake likely came from nearby communities, as drainage systems in the area are interconnected with localities surrounding the airport.
He added that recent heavy rains and flooding may have displaced the snake, causing it to wander into the airbase where it was eventually spotted and caught by air force personnel.
The snake was captured just a few hours before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. departed for his five-day official visit to India.

He also confirmed that the personnel who was bitten during the capture is now in good condition.
“The personnel has already received an anti-tetanus shot since the snake was non-venomous,” Cordura said.
According to the Air Force chief, sightings of snakes in Villamor Air Base occasionally occur, especially during periods of excavation and maintenance operations around the airport.
Cordura reiterated that this incident should not be a cause for public concern, assuring that proper protocols are in place to manage such situations effectively.
