A 45-year-old security guard was arrested following a road rage incident in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

According to the Marikina City Police Station, the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, encountered a 30-year-old Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) driver along the road in Barangay Nangka around 4:00 PM.
The suspect attempted to overtake the victim, eventually confronting him at a nearby gasoline station in Barangay Concepcion Uno.
“Binusinahan ng suspek ‘yung biktima. Nung matapat sa bintana, minura. Nagkagitgitan sila sa daan. Huminto ‘yung kotse sa isang gasolinahan para maayos o mapag-usapan, pero ang nangyari bigla na lang sinuntok ‘yung biktima, sinipa ‘yung kotse, pinagbantaan. Hindi naman nailabas pero may akmang bubunutin doon sa sling bag,” said Col. Geoffrey Fernandez, officer-in-charge of the Marikina Police.

A concerned citizen immediately reported the altercation to 911. Police responded within three minutes, arresting the suspect and recovering a firearm and live ammunition.
Authorities noted the suspect smelled of alcohol, though he denied being under the influence.
The suspect admitted losing his temper when the TNVS driver allegedly refused to give way.
“Siya po ‘yung unang nanggitgit… Kinumpronta ko, galit sa akin, tapos sinipa ko ‘yung sasakyan… Ayaw ibigay sabi ko gusto mo barilin kita,” he explained.
He is currently detained at the Marikina Police Custodial Facility and faces multiple charges including threats, physical injury, malicious mischief, and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
