A man was arrested on July 8 by NBI officers in Cavite for allegedly taking advantage of his niece.

Based on the investigations conducted by the NBI, the alleged suspect began committing the crime when the victim was just 7 years old.

In a report by Marisol Abdurahman, it was revealed that the minor victim chose not to report the incident at the time due to fear.

However, now that she is already 14 years old, she was finally able to speak up about what had been happening, after her mother informed her that she would be moving to her grandmother’s house—where the alleged suspect was also staying.

According to Atty. Czar Nuqui, NBI Chief, Cavite North District Office, the alleged suspect was scaring the victim by showing her a firearm.

Meanwhile, the alleged suspect denied all the accusations against him.

"Malabo 'yun ma'am. Hindi kami magkakasama, ma'am," said the alleged suspect in an interview with Abdurahman.

Complaints were filed against the suspect.

On the other hand, DIR. Ferdinand Lavin, NBI Spokesperson, said that the victim will undergo rehabilitation, treatment, and emotional assessment.
