A heartbreaking incident claimed the life of a three-day-old baby after getting caught in the chain and wheel of a motorcycle in Tagkawayan, Quezon.

According to a report on GTV’s "State of the Nation" on Wednesday, the infant was supposed to be brought home to Del Gallego, Camarines Sur, from the hospital earlier that afternoon.

Police said the newborn was wrapped in a blanket and held by his mother, who was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her live-in partner.

During the trip, they reportedly failed to notice that the blanket had begun to dangle and got caught in the motorcycle’s chain.

Tragically, the baby was pulled along with the blanket and became trapped in the rear wheel of the moving vehicle.

The couple immediately sought help, but rescuing the baby proved to be difficult due to the severity of the entrapment.

The infant was eventually brought back to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The incident has sparked sorrow and concern online, with netizens urging greater care when transporting newborns and calling for awareness on safer travel practices, especially for vulnerable passengers.

Authorities are currently conducting further investigation into the accident.

The tragic loss serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that can arise during seemingly routine travel, especially when safety precautions are not fully observed.

According to the report of Brigada News Philippines, the incident happened on June 23, Purok Ilaya, Brgy. Tuyan, Naga, Cebu. The suspect, Satur, is 29 years old, while the victim, Mae, is 24. Mae said that the suspect borrowed her cellphone, and she suspected that he used her e-wallet to play on Scatter, eventually leading to an argument and to the assault.
