Three individuals, including a pregnant woman, were confirmed dead while five others sustained injuries in a tragic collision between a car and a van along Bypass Road in Brgy. Zambal, Tagaytay City, Cavite early Tuesday morning.

According to the Tagaytay City Police, the victims who were injured were passengers of the van.

All five are recent senior high school graduates, aged 17 to 18. They were reportedly on their way home when the van collided with a car, resulting in the deadly crash.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the deceased, including the expectant mother.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, although preliminary reports suggest one of the vehicles may have veered into the opposite lane.

The incident adds to the growing list of road accidents in the Philippines in recent months.

Just days earlier, a 105-year-old woman died in Occidental Mindoro after being hit and dragged by a vehicle.

In Iloilo, three women lost their lives after being struck by a car whose driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.

These recurring tragedies have sparked renewed calls for stricter traffic enforcement, better road safety education, and improved infrastructure—especially along provincial roads where many accidents tend to happen.

Meanwhile, the injured youth in the Tagaytay accident are receiving treatment in a nearby hospital.

Their families are appealing for support and justice as investigations continue.

According to the report of GMA Regional TV, the victim, Mat Ernest Bongo brought his female co-worker home and it was thereafter that the alleged assault took place. He sustained injuries in different parts of his body. Based on the report, the victim was also allegedly robbed by the same group.
