"Marami [saksak] lahat nasa likod 'yung mga tama. 'Yun ang isang [tinitingnan], baka dahil sa kalasingan," said P/CPT. MARCO ESTILLERO, ACTING CHIEF OF POLICE, MAPANAS MPS.
In the Philippines, the penalty for committing murder is reclusion perpetua, which means imprisonment for a period of 20 years and 1 day to 40 years.
Murder is classified as a heinous crime under Philippine law and is considered more serious than hom!cide due to the presence of qualifying circumstances such as treachery, cruelty, or premeditation.
While the death penalty remains abolished in the country, reclusion perpetua carries strict conditions, including limited eligibility for parole.
The offender is also required to pay civil indemnity and damages to the victim's family as part of the legal consequences.
