Surveillance footage from Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras captured two helmet-clad suspects positioned by the roadside, appearing to be lying in wait.

As their intended target, a 41-year-old male motorcycle rider, passed by, the suspects opened fire, riddling him with bullets.

Fortunately, the 18-year-old passenger accompanying the targeted rider managed to escape uninjured.

In the chaotic aftermath of the initial shooting, the two suspects fled the scene on foot. During their escape, they encountered a 34-year-old male rider who had stopped his motorcycle due to the commotion.

One of the assailants shot this second victim. Despite being wounded, the man attempted to flee but ultimately succumbed to his gunshot injuries.

The suspects then successfully made their getaway and are currently the subject of an intensive manhunt.

Police investigations have revealed that the primary victim was on his way home from a billiard hall when he was ambushed by the assailants.

Authorities are looking into personal grudge as the primary motive for the killing of the first victim.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Paul Andrew Cortes, spokesperson for the Zamboanga City Police Office, confirmed this angle.

“Yung nakikita na possible motive dito, based sa witness, ay personal grudge,” he stated, indicating that witness accounts point towards a personal dispute as the motive.

Cortes also confirmed that authorities have identified a person of interest in the case, thanks to a witness who can provide identification.

“Ongoing pa yung hot pursuit operation natin dito sa POI (person of interest) natin kasi may witness din tayo na nakuha and siya mismo makaka-identify dito sa POI natin na isa sa mga suspek natin,” he added, assuring the public of continuous efforts to bring the suspects to justice.

The incident has heightened concerns about urban crime and the safety of commuters in Zamboanga City.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating the suspects, emphasizing the urgency of apprehending those responsible for the double hom1cide to prevent further incidents and ensure community safety.

The investigation remains active as police gather more evidence and pursue all leads.
