A 48-year-old father and known supporter of Naic, Cavite Mayor-elect Rommel Magbitang was shot dead in front of his own home on the afternoon of Saturday, May 24.

The victim, whose name has been withheld pending official confirmation, was one of the active leaders of Magbitang's local campaign.

According to the victim’s wife, her husband had previously received threats to his life, allegedly connected to the recent election.

She shared that they had been living in fear since the campaign period but never imagined the threats would escalate into deadly violence.

The gunman, who remains unidentified, fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

The reports further state that the alleged incident unfolded around 2:00 AM as Ejercito and his nephew were walking near a mini-mall after leaving a bar. Senator Jinggoy has confirmed the alleged assault, stating there were no prior confrontations and said he will be going to the island to personally coordinate with local authorities.
