Two male individuals were arrested in Binondo, Manila after police discovered that they were allegedly planning to rob a jewelry store, according to a report from GMA Integrated News.

Concerned residents alerted authorities after noticing a suspicious vehicle moving repeatedly around the area. When responding officers checked on the car and its occupants, they noticed something unusual — the suspects were wearing uniforms that bore nearly identical names, raising suspicion among the officers.
Following this discovery, the two men were apprehended.
During a press conference, Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group Director PMaj. Gen. Anthony Aberin confirmed that the suspects were plotting a heist targeting a jewelry store in Binondo.

Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects was a former police officer who had already been dismissed from the service.
The second suspect, meanwhile, was found to have an outstanding warrant of arrest for a murder case in Bulacan.
Authorities also suspect that the two men may be involved in other criminal activities, although no additional details were disclosed as investigations continue.
The swift action of vigilant residents and police authorities helped thwart what could have been a major robbery.
The suspects are now in police custody as further inquiries are underway to uncover the full extent of their alleged criminal operations.
