A 38-year-old man died after being struck in the head with a hammer by a co-worker inside a machine shop in General Santos City, according to a report by Efren Mamac of GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on Monday.

The victim was reportedly taking a shower when the crime occurred.

Police Major Wesley Matillano, commander of Police Station 5, said their initial investigation revealed that both the victim and the suspect were stay-in workers who often got into heated arguments.

“Based on the information from their co-workers, the victim allegedly bullied the suspect,” said Matillano. The suspect fled the scene and is currently being sought by authorities.

Police said the suspect may face charges of h&micide or murder, depending on further developments in the case.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is still attempting to reach the shop owner and the victim’s family for comment.

This case brings to mind a similar incident in Taguig City in 2022, where a 42-year-old factory worker was also killed by a colleague following a series of personal disputes.

In that case, the suspect used a steel pipe to attack the victim after a heated argument over work responsibilities.

Authorities later discovered that the altercation stemmed from long-standing tension between the two workers, with other employees claiming that the victim had also bullied the suspect for months.

Based on the report of ABS-CBN, her two minor children were rescued by authorities. Aside from her own children, her five-year-old grandchild was likewise rescued. As per the report of the NBI, the transaction was discovered after an Australian client of the suspect was arrested by authorities.
