The tragic incident, which occurred in Barangay Alacaygan, unfolded at approximately 11:00 PM on Saturday, April 13th, resulted in the death of one rider and injuries to his passenger after their vehicle collided with a concrete perimeter wall, according to a report by Julius Belacaol on GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas.

Local police authorities reported that the rider, also 21 years of age and identified as Lengie Bersabal, remained on the motorcycle, which became wedged against the wall upon collision.
Both Bersabal and Alonday were residents of the town of Estancia and were reportedly Criminology students en route to Iloilo City for enrollment procedures scheduled for Monday.
Initial investigations by the Banate Municipal Police Station suggest the sequence of events leading to the crash.
According to Staff Sergeant Merille Igona, the investigator handling the case, “Tumawid ang kanilang motor papunta sana sa kabilang lane at sumalpok sa pader.”
The exact reasons for the motorcycle crossing into the other lane are still under investigation.
Tragically, Lengie Bersabal succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Mark Christ Alonday sustained injuries from the impact but survived the accident.
Eyewitness accounts and the initial assessment by the police indicate the immediate aftermath of the collision.
“Nang bumangga ang motor sa pader, andiyan pa ang driver, nakaupo pa sa kaniyang motorsiklo pero unconscious siya,” stated Staff Sergeant Igona.
At this stage of the investigation, police suspect that the rider, Bersabal, lost control of the motorcycle, leading to the fatal impact with the wall.
Further investigation will likely focus on factors that may have contributed to the loss of control, such as speed, road conditions, and any potential external influences.
The incident underscores the inherent risks associated with motorcycle travel and the critical importance of safe driving practices.
The local community and fellow students are likely mourning the loss of a young life and wishing for the swift recovery of the injured student.
The investigation remains ongoing to determine the precise cause of this unfortunate accident.
