The unusual sight caught the attention of passersby and quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from netizens.
According to a report by Brigada News Philippines, the potholes resulted from a process called "reblocking" — a method where roads are deliberately broken down before being completely rebuilt.
While the work is ongoing, the road has been left with several large and deep holes, posing risks to motorists and pedestrians.

The reason behind the planting remains unclear. Some speculate that it was meant as a form of protest or a way to warn motorists of the dangerous road conditions.
Others believe it may have been done as a prank or out of sheer frustration.
“Baka kasi maayos pa ang kalsada pero sinira lamang,” the Brigada reporter quoted a netizen’s comment, suggesting the road may have been prematurely demolished.
“Baka sa sobrang inis ng residente kaya nagawa ito,” she added, citing another comment.
“Malaking insult ito sa gobyerno, mayroon namang sapat na signages sa lugar,” the reporter noted, emphasizing that official warnings were in place.
While humorous to some, the incident has sparked conversations on infrastructure planning, community consultation, and road safety.
Local officials have yet to issue a statement on whether the unusual plantings will affect the timeline of the road’s repair.
