While these posts may appear harmless at first glance, the NPC stressed that they pose serious risks to children's safety and privacy.
According to the NPC, these innocent-looking contests could be used as a gateway for online s3xual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC).
“May nakita ka bang post na nanghihikayat sa parents na mag-comment ng pictures ng kanilang babies kapalit ng pera o premyo? Mukhang harmless, pero delikado!” the agency said in a Facebook post.

The NPC emphasized that once photos are posted publicly, they can be easily downloaded, misused, or even sold on the dark web without the parents' knowledge or consent.
The agency urged parents to think twice before sharing any personal information or photos of their children online, regardless of the platform or purpose.
“Huwag hayaang maging biktima ang inyong anak! Think before you post. Protektahan natin ang privacy at digital future nila,” the NPC added.
As online platforms continue to be popular spaces for social interaction and marketing, the NPC calls on everyone, especially parents, to be vigilant and responsible when it comes to protecting children’s digital identities.
This warning is part of NPC’s broader effort to raise awareness about online threats and promote safe digital practices for families in the age of social media.
News, photos or videos that arouse the interest of netizens would often go viral on social media, due to the attention netizens give them. These viral posts appeal to the emotions of netizens, and in rare cases, such could also happen to ordinary people, making them very relatable to just about simply everyone around.
