The 2-seater aircraft, a Cessna plane registered as RP-C8595 and operated by the Pilipinas Space Aviation Academy Inc., crashed in the vicinity of Barangay Libsong East, Lingayen, Pangasinan, at approximately 8:00 a.m.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Amor Mio Somine, chief of police of Lingayen, provided initial details of the incident. “Unfortunately po medyo malungkot na balita pero pagdating sa ospital dineclare dead on arrival po sila,” he stated.
According to initial reports, the Cessna plane had just taken off from the local airport when the crash occurred.
“Habang papaitaas siya…noong nasa itaas na, noong magu-u-turn na siya, bigla daw pong bumagsak, kaya hindi pa po nakakalayo sa airport,” the officer explained.
The sudden nature of the crash, shortly after takeoff, raises questions about potential mechanical failures or other contributing factors.
The fact, that the plane was making a u-turn, also brings up more questions as to why the crash happened.
The Pilipinas Space Aviation Academy Inc., the operator of the aircraft, will likely be cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The local police force, and aviation authorities, are now tasked with gathering all of the evidence, and conducting interviews with witnesses, to fully understand the series of events that led to the crash.
