A tragic accident in Cebu City has resulted in the death of a 27-year-old father, whose final act was to save his three-year-old son from a catastrophic collision.

The incident, which occurred on March 20th in Sitio Tapuco, Barangay Pit-os, involved a speeding dump truck that rammed the father's motorcycle from behind, triggering a chain of collisions.
The father's instinctive reaction to protect his child proved fatal.
As the impact threw them from the motorcycle, he reportedly managed to toss his son under a parked truck on the road's right lane, shielding him from the immediate danger of landing on the pavement.

Witnesses reported that the father himself was thrown several meters further and fatally struck by the dump truck's front wheels.
According to family members, neither the father nor his son were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
They were reportedly traveling a short distance to pick up the child's mother from work in a nearby barangay.
Police reports indicate that the dump truck was counter-flowing at high speed, attempting to overtake another truck that had stopped to navigate low-hanging electrical wires.
The reckless maneuver resulted in the initial collision with the father's motorcycle, followed by a subsequent impact with three more motorcycles on the opposite lane.

Miraculously, the drivers and passengers of these motorcycles managed to escape serious injury.
The dump truck driver fled the scene immediately after the collisions, but later surrendered to police.
He is now detained at the Cebu City Police Office's Traffic Enforcement Unit, facing charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in H0micide, Physical Injury, and Damage to Property.
The victim's mother revealed that her son was simply fetching his partner, who had just finished work, and had brought his child along for the ride.
The child, despite sustaining a head injury, was hospitalized and is expected to be released.
