Clarifying his stance, Lacson later explained that he was not referring to direct legal or financial aid for Duterte.
Instead, he was pointing out the importance of consistency in how the government treats Filipinos facing legal troubles abroad.
He referenced past cases where the Philippine government had intervened in situations involving overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or other citizens entangled in legal issues outside the country.
Lacson’s comments have added to the ongoing discourse surrounding Duterte’s case and how the Philippine government should handle such situations.
While opinions remain divided, his remarks underscore the broader issue of ensuring fair and equal treatment for all Filipinos, whether they are former presidents or ordinary citizens facing legal challenges overseas.
