Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte arrived at the International Criminal Court (ICC) Detention Center in Scheveningen, The Hague, Netherlands, early Thursday morning.

Duterte's chartered flight, RP-C5219, landed at Rotterdam-The Hague Airport at 4:56 p.m. CET (11:56 p.m. Philippine time).
Upon arrival, Philippine law enforcement officials formally transferred him to the Judicial Cooperation Unit of the ICC’s Office of Registry.

Roughly two hours later, two large, heavily tinted vehicles—believed to be transporting Duterte—entered the detention center premises as a crowd, mainly composed of his supporters, gathered at the gate, chanting slogans.

Reports from Dutch media indicated that an ambulance was stationed at the scene as a precautionary measure.
Dozens of Duterte’s backers stood outside the facility, some calling for his return to the Philippines.
The 79-year-old former leader, who governed from 2016 to 2022, was apprehended in Manila on Tuesday, marking a significant development in the ICC’s investigation into alleged crimes against humanity during his administration’s anti-drug campaign.
The crackdown resulted in thousands of deaths and was widely condemned internationally.
The ICC arrest warrant accuses Duterte of establishing, financing, and arming death squads responsible for executing suspected drug offenders.
In the coming days, he is expected to appear before a judge, where the allegations will be formally presented in court.
Meanwhile, the Philippine embassy in the Netherlands confirmed offering consular assistance.
"Upon the Embassy’s representation, the Netherlands’ Immigration Authorities granted two-day visas to those who escorted the former President, including the latter’s nurse and aide, to enable them to rest and recover before their return flight," the embassy stated.
Former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea received a 15-day visa to serve as Duterte’s legal counsel and has been authorized to visit him at the detention center on Thursday.
The embassy also provided winter clothing, fresh attire, and care packages for Duterte, his entourage, and the aircraft’s crew.
Earlier in the day, advocacy groups seeking justice for the victims of Duterte’s drug war assembled outside the ICC to demand accountability.

Earlier, the former president was apprised of his rights under the Miranda Doctrine. In a video shared by GMA News, CIDG chief, Police Major General Nicolas Torre III, is seen reciting the Miranda Doctrine to the former president. The reading of the Miranda rights is a standard procedure for persons being arrested to ensure that the latter fully understands their rights upon their arrest. It can be recalled that the International Police (InterPol) has confirmed the issuance of the arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court against the former president.
An earlier video showing former President Rodrigo Duterte’s longtime partner, Honeylet Avanceña, seemingly trying to prevent the former leader from being taken into custody has gone viral. The video, which was posted on the social media page of their daughter, Veronica or Kitty Duterte and shared by ABS-CBN news on its own page, has since then gone viral. The said video also captured snippets of conversations between Avanceña and the former leader. As of this writing, the video has gained 1.2 million views with 5.4K comments and 29K reacts.
