The reading of the Miranda rights is a standard legal procedure, ensuring that an individual understands their rights upon arrest.

These rights include the right to remain silent, the right to legal counsel, and the understanding that any statement made can be used against them in court.

The formal recitation of these rights signifies the commencement of legal proceedings against the former president.

The ICC warrant, which served as the basis for the arrest, stems from allegations related to Duterte's controversial war on drug during his presidency.

The international body has been investigating claims of extrajudicial killings and human rights abuses associated with the campaign.

The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing scrutiny of Duterte's administration.

The presence of Police Major General Torre III, a high-ranking official within the CIDG, underscores the seriousness of the operation.

The involvement of the CIDG, the investigative arm of the Philippine National Police, indicates that the arrest was conducted in accordance with domestic legal protocols, in conjunction with the international warrant.

The timing of the arrest, upon Duterte's arrival from Hong Kong, suggests a coordinated effort between international and local law enforcement agencies.

The incident has drawn immediate attention, given Duterte's prominent political standing and the contentious nature of the allegations against him.

The legal process that follows will likely involve extradition proceedings, as the ICC seeks to bring Duterte before its court in The Hague.

The Philippine government's response to the ICC's actions will be closely monitored, given the country's complex relationship with the international body.
