The prominent Tantoco family is currently mourning the passing of Paolo “Paowee” Tantoco. He died of an unspecified cause at the age of 44.

Through a statement posted by his brother Donnie Tantoco, Paolo’s parents Rico and Nena Tantoco announced the sudden demise of their son.

“It is with great sorrow that we share the sudden passing of our son Paolo “Paowee” Tantoco.”

They then humbly asked for prayers for Paolo’s soul and the bereaved family.

“We are devastated by our loss and kindly request for your prayers for Paowee and our family.”

“We will share more details as we finalise arrangements for bringing him home to the Philippines,” they added.

Paolo is among the grandchildren of Rustan Commercial Corporation's founders, Bienvenido Tantoco Sr. and Gliceria Rustia-Tantoco.

In addition to Donnie, the president of Rustan’s, his siblings include Robbie, Gippy, Katrina, Bea, and Joel.

Paolo is survived by his wife, Malacañang's Deputy Social Secretary Dina Arroyo-Tantoco. They have three children: Alana, Bela and Zach, as per Philstar.com's report.

According to The Manila Times, Paolo served as Assistant Vice President for Administration at Rustan's Commercial Corp. Paolo also pursued a Master's in Business Administration at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), earning his degree in 2017.

In the same article by The Manila Times, the Los Angeles County coroner's office recorded Paolo's passing under Case Number 2025-04377. The report identified the deceased as Juan Paolo Tantoco, a 44-year-old Asian male who was found at a hotel. The cause and manner of death remained under investigation, with the deputy medical examiner deferring a ruling pending further findings.
