Pasahero sa NAIA Terminal 3, umalma sa umano'y tangkang "laglag-bala" modus

- A 69-year-old woman, Ruth Adel, accused airport security of falsely claiming that a bullet casing was found in her luggage just before she and her family were about to board their flight to Vietnam

- Despite security personnel stating that an x-ray scan detected a bullet-shaped amulet in their bag, a physical inspection revealed no such item

- Based on the video share by Ruth on her FB account, and reported by GMA News, the family challenged why they were only stopped at the boarding gate instead of being flagged during the initial x-ray screening if the alleged bullet casing truly existed

- While the Office of Transportation Security promised to address the issue in a press briefing, both the Manila International Airport Authority and the Department of Transportation had not provided any official statements at the time of reporting

In a report by Dano Tingcungco on Sunday’s 24 Oras Weekend, a cellphone video recorded on March 6, 2025, shows the family frantically rummaging through their bags at NAIA’s pre-departure area while their flight was already boarding.

The issue gained widespread attention after Ruth Adel, 69, shared her ordeal in a viral social media post.

According to Adel, NAIA security officers claimed an x-ray scan detected an "anting-anting" or amulet in the shape of a bullet casing inside their luggage.

However, when their bag was physically searched, no such item was found.

“Sobrang abala yung ginawa niyo (You put us through a lot of inconvenience)!” Adel told the security personnel who stopped them.

The family also questioned why they were only confronted at the boarding gate instead of being flagged at the initial x-ray screening if a bullet casing had truly been present in their bag.

Despite the delay, Adel and her family were eventually allowed to board and reached their destination.

However, she said the ordeal caused her blood pressure to spike.

The Office of Transportation Security declined to comment on Sunday but stated that they would address the matter in a press briefing on Monday alongside Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon.

As of this report’s publication, both the Manila International Airport Authority and the DOTr have yet to issue a response.
