According to reports from GMA’s “Unang Balita” and “Balitanghali,” the Batasan Police conducted a follow-up operation with the victim, who was riding a motorcycle.

She had been robbed along IBP Road. Shortly after, the victim spotted the suspect loitering nearby.

Police immediately moved into an alleyway and arrested the 31-year-old suspect.

During the arrest, officers recovered a loaded firearm from the suspect's bag, as well as the stolen cellphone, which was tucked into his waistband.

The victim positively identified the recovered cellphone as her own.

Police investigations revealed that the 36-year-old victim, an online seller, had been robbed after attending a pageant.

She was about to board a tricycle when the suspect approached her from behind and forcibly took her cellphone.

The quick action by the police, along with the crucial cooperation of the victim, led to the early resolution of the case.

It would appear that the victim's proactive role in the operation directly contributed to the suspect's swift arrest and the recovery of the stolen items.

The recovered firearm lacked proper documentation and was submitted to the crime laboratory for ballistics examination to determine if it had been used in other crimes.

This marks the suspect's second arrest. He was previously apprehended in 2017 for drug-related offenses and was released from custody only last year.

“Dala lang din po ng kahirapan. Ibebenta ko po sana para pambili ng pagkain po. Napulot ko lang po sa mga gamit ng tropa ko po ‘yun,” the suspect stated when asked by media personnel.

He is now facing charges of robbery and violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.

Still in other news, a man who ended up sleeping on a chair on the sidewalk right outside a store was robbed. In the footage shared by Balitanghali of GMA News, the tricycle was traversing the road, when it chanced upon the man. He immediately pulled over and slowly went up to the sleeping man, and took his wallet, which had P5,000. Later, when the victim was interviewed, he said that the money was supposed to be for the purchase of a pedicab.
