According to PLt. Col. John Guiagui of the Manila Police District, authorities had already seen another Facebook post describing a similar incident involving the same suspect.

The suspect was apprehended around 3 p.m. in Santa Cruz, Manila. Police confirmed he is unemployed and has no permanent residence. Investigators are also checking if he has prior offenses.

Although the suspect denied using the ice pick to rob passengers, he admitted carrying it to retaliate against a jeepney driver who had previously hurt him.

He is currently detained at the Manila Police District custodial facility and faces charges of illegal possession of a bladed weapon. Additional charges for grave threats and extortion may be filed, pending the victims’ decision.
