A 19-year-old girl was heard screaming for help inside a jeepney along the national highway in Davao City.

A cellphone video captured the moment when a man inside the public vehicle appeared to be strangling her.

It seemed like the man was holding the girl hostage, preventing her from escaping.

According to the police investigations, the man suddenly strangled the victim who was on her way to work that day.

The jeepney driver quickly drove to the nearest police outpost for help.

Thankfully, a couple of men, including some riders, jumped inside the jeep to save the girl.

They struggled to make the suspect step out of the jeepney which was why they decided to do it by force by pulling him out of the public utility vehicle.

In the end, the male suspect was apprehended and taken by the police authorities.

In a report by Efren Mamac of GMA Regional TV aired in 'SAKSI,' the suspect will be charged with physical injuries.

Meanwhile, the police authorities are still trying to determine the suspect's motive in committing the crime.

The suspect refused to give any statement about the incident.

In the Philippines, civilians can arrest a suspect under certain conditions. This is called a citizen’s arrest, and it is allowed under Rule 113, Section 5 of the Revised Rules of Criminal Procedure.

The other two suspects were first arrested by the police, and the victim's stepbrother was arrested after over a year.
