A 64-year-old woman from Midsayap, Cotabato was brutally stabbed multiple times by a man.
According to TV5's Frontline Express, the victim, identified as Elena Fernandez, was woken up by a noise from the room next to where she was sleeping.
To her shock, she saw an unknown man who immediately stabbed her multiple times, waking up other members of the household.

"Doon sa hot pursuit [operation] natin ma'am kasi may nakakita po, na-identifyy naman ng biktima na 'yung nanaksak ay itong suspek po kaya nahuli po doon lang sa barangay, ang motibo nitong suspek is pagnanakaw po," said Police Lieutenant Coronel Arniel Melocotones, chief of Police of Midsayap MPS.
The suspect was later identified as alias "Edwardo," a 21-year-old resident of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat but temporarily residing at Midsayap, Cotabato.
According to police authorities, the suspect admitted doing the crime. Upon his arrest, he also confessed that his real motive was stealing.
He will be charged with frustrated murder.
Meanwhile, the 64-year-old victim, Elena, although took serious stabwounds, is already safe and recovering in the hospital.
