A chemical explosion caused a fire in a school in Makati City, causing six senior high school students to be injured.

According to a report by GMA News Online, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) revealed on Thursday that the chemical that exploded was ethanol.

The incident happened at the Globetek Science Foundation Inc. at around 5:20 p.m. but was only reported at around 6:12 p.m.

There were two firetrucks that arrived in the area, along with one ambulance.

Three of the injured students were brought to the hospital, while the three others were turned over to their families.

Approximately P5,000 worth of damage was left by the fire.

Around 20 square meters of the building was affected.
