The Department of Justice has filed a complaint against 30 police officers who were allegedly involved in a staged buy-bust operation in October 2022.

CCTV footage revealed irregularities in the supposed buy-bust operation, which reportedly took place in Tondo, Manila.

The anti-drug operation was neither documented nor officially reported and was labeled as a buy-bust operation.

The confiscated drugs from the alleged staged operation were estimated to be worth nearly ₱7 billion.

22 of the 30 policemen are still active in service but were ordered to be put under restrictive custody. They will also be disarmed and could be issued warrants of arrest.

The remaining policemen included 5 retired policemen, 2 dismissed, and 1 resigned.

In another viral local report, a businessman kidnapped in Quezon City was found dead in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. In an interview with 24-Oras, one of the suspects admitted the victim was strangled and had a cellophane wrapped around his face. Afterward, the killed businessman was put inside a water drum and buried in San Jose Del Monte. It's the same kidnap-slay crime committed against Ruby Rose Barrameda in 2007, and as it turned out, the alleged mastermind behind the two crimes was believed to be the same person.
