The ride-hailing company Angkas was questioned at the Senate hearing with regards to its helmets following widespread complaints on their sanitary conditions.
Sen. Raffy Tulfo spearheaded the inquiry due to the number of the complaints that have reached him.
"Ito maliliit na reklamo pero dumarami na, 'yung helmet ng mga rider niyo paminsan linisin niyo kasi paminsan mapanghi, mabaho, may kuto," he said.
He then went on to narrate that someone he knew used the service, and a few days later went to him and told him that he contracted lice.

"Meron pa ngang sumakay [na] kakilala ko, hindi ko na babangitin, after a few days may kuto na siya: 'Sir, may kuto na po ako.' Paano yan?" the senator narrated.
In GMA's report, the CEO of the company said that they have already released a new set of helmets and have also established sanitation procedures.
"Nag-establish na po kami ng mga charcoal sanitation para sa mga helmet tapos we also released, of course, mga subsidized brand new helmets. Meron din po kaming mga helmet cleaner na ginagamit po sa iba’t ibang stations," he said.
In addition, he said that they also required the use of shower caps.
