Lapu-Lapu City Police to probe alleged maltreatment of criminology student by cops

- The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) will be investigating the alleged maltreatment of a number of policemen of a criminology student

- Based on a report of GMA News Online, it was some member of the Police Station 4 of the LLCPO

- Police Colonel Dyan Agustin said that there is already a directive to investigate the incident

- The victim was accused to be a part of the burglary, which took place in a home where he was the caretaker

Some policemen of Station 4 of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office is being investigated for allegedly maltreating a criminology student.

According to the report of GMA News Online, Police Colonel Dyan Agustin has already directed the Criminal Investigation and Detective Management Unit to identify the policemen who were allegedly involved in the incident that happened on Oct. 4.

A post by a netizen, claiming he was the uncle of the victim, narrated how burglars allegedly snuck in to the house where his nephew was working as a caretaker.

When the police conducted the investigation, he claimed that his nephew appeared to have been accused of the burglary.

He was taken into custody, and was allegedly beaten up when he denied involvement.

He was later released.

The attention of Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan was caught by the netizen's post.

It was also the mayor who shared the photo of the victim.
